What you will study

The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practice comprises four online subjects (24 credit points [CP] in total).

Flexible course options

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practice comprises 4 online subjects (24 credit points [CP] in total). 

Students who complete the Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practice may qualify to advance to the Master of Sustainable Leadership or Master of Sustainable Energy, requiring only 6 additional subjects to complete the master's degree.

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Leadership leads to the Master of Sustainable Leadership, the Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Energy Technologies leads to the Master of Sustainable Energy, and the Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practice provides a flexible pathway into either master's degree.

This allows you to tailor your studies to align with your career goals and develop specialist skills in the areas of sustainability that matter most to you.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

Applicants must have one of the following: 

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline, such as physics, chemistry, environmental sciences, nursing, education, engineering, and/or materials sciences, or another comparable field#

OR

  • A minimum of 3 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional work experience# AND a general capacity to undertake tertiary education, demonstrated by successful completion of professional education (e.g. UTS microcredential(s) or equivalent) AND an interest in the course and demonstrated understanding of the opportunities present in Sustainable Practice

Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

For applicants who need to demonstrate professional work experience:

  • Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:
    • A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
    • A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
    • A statutory declaration confirming professional work experience (Australian residents only)
    • An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor, on company letterhead, confirming the applicant’s professional work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and nature of the business
    • A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)

Personal statement (one page) outlining the applicant’s interest in the course and any contemporary professional education undertaken. The statement must clearly articulate the applicant’s learning expectations which align with the course intended outcomes and demonstrates capacity to undertake the course (such as, but not limited to, successful completion of UTS postgraduate microcredentials).
